Blue. The color of
devotion.
CARYS WOLFE is my heart.
Mine, always.
Leaving her nearly killed me.
I thought it was the
only way to keep her safe.
She’s moved on, and I
want her back.
***
EVAN HART is my
heart.
Loving him is my
destiny. I waited my entire life for our time,
for us to finally be
together, only to have him leave.
Now he’s back.
Though my mind can’t
forgive him, my heart can’t forget.

Excerpt
“Evan, I want to know what happened, but
I have a life now and you need to know…” She trails off, her eyes darting away
from mine.
                “What?”
Gazing up at me, she continues,
“Whatever you have to say, it’s not going to change a thing. We’re over.”
                My heart twists and breathing
becomes difficult. Mother fuck, her
words cut deep, hurting even though they aren’t true. Sure, she believes them
on some level—she had to, in order to get through what I did. Yet, along with
the hurt and disappointment swimming in her eyes, there’s also tenderness and
love.
“Tell me you’re happy and I’ll walk away.”
We always pushed each other, challenged the other to
face our fears, to be honest with ourselves, with each other. I need to hear
her say it. I don’t believe it, but if she is over me, I need to hear it in her
voice and see it in her face—not because I want to, but because it’s the only
way I can even begin to accept that we’re over. Even then, it’s not possible.
“I’m happy.” Her tone is laden with bravado, but no
true emotion. Even her gaze, which never wavers from mine, is flat.
Shaking my head, I briefly cast my eyes downward to
suppress my smile. “No, you’re not.”
“Van.” I flinch at that fucking name.
As a child, I thought it was so fucking cool to have a
nickname that only my best friends would call me. Now, hearing “Van” from her
pretty lips, I want to obliterate the word from her vocabulary, fucking kiss
the word out of her.
“You can call me asshole for all I care, you’re not
happy,” I retort in frustration. Catching my tone, I breathe deeply and loosen
my fists to relax. “Don’t lie to me, and most of all, don’t lie to yourself.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about. You want to
see what you want. I’m with Greg, and we’re happy.”
She grimaces infinitesimally, then averts her eyes
from me. Unable to read her, I’m not sure if it’s because she means it and
doesn’t want to hurt my feelings or if the lie tastes nasty in her mouth.
“Sweetness, I know everything there is to know about
you, without apology. You can’t lie to me.”

I’m Alabama’s star wide receiver. I’ve got mad skills on and
off the field, and it’s no secret I’m heading into the draft after the upcoming
season. But I’m home for the summer to make some cash before my senior year.
Being back under my parents’ roof isn’t the ideal situation, but the moment I
see Marin, the star of my adolescent fantasies, I know it’s about to get
interesting. She may not have noticed me back then, but I’ve got a feeling it’s
just a matter of time before she lets me turn those fantasies into reality.
Marin

The last time I saw Trace Forester he was just a kid tearing
up the neighborhood on his skateboard. That was when I was foolish enough to
think I had the perfect husband and the perfect life. But now my life is in
shambles and Trace is back, all grown up, hot as hell, and exuding major
confidence. It would be so easy to fall for his good looks and undeniable
charm. So easy to let him into my life. Too bad I learned the hard way that
nothing worth having ever comes easy.

“You sleep with him yet?” Gayle asked.
“Oh my god. What is wrong with you?”
“Me? Have you seen the guy?”
Outside, Trace tossed the football gently so CJ had a slight
chance of actually catching it. He didn’t. It bounced off the grass in front of
him, but he ran after it, laughing as he did. “Yes, I’ve seen the teenager in
my backyard.”
“He’s not a teenager.”
“Yes, he is. I looked it up. He’s nineteen.”
There was a pause on her end, like she just realized I was a
sicko who’d actually looked him up. “Who cares? You’re single and he’s hot.
Have you seen him in his uniform? The guy could be a freakin’ underwear model.”
I laughed as I turned from the window and moved into the
living room. “No. At least not in person.” I’d seen pictures on the internet.
“Girl. When are you ever gonna have a hot piece of ass under
your roof again?” Gayle asked.
I scoffed. “You’re acting like he sees me as anything other
than a soon-to-be-divorced woman with a kid who needs a guy around.”
“Marin, you’re beautiful and fun. You deserve to get some
action.”
“You do realize you’re encouraging me to jump his bones,
right?”
“I never said jump his bones. Just wear something tight.
Bend over and let him see your hot ass. You’d barely have to do anything.”
“You’re insane.” I laughed. “And I could go to jail.”
“Why could you go to jail?” Trace asked from behind me.
I spun around, my eyes bugging out of my head and my heart
drumming in my chest. Trace stood in the doorway smirking at me, like he’d
heard my conversation.
Had he?

Layla Robinson is not crazy. She is suffering from
unrequited love. But it’s time to move on. No more stalking, no more obsessive
calling.
What she needs is a distraction. The blue-eyed guy she keeps
seeing around campus could be a great one—only he is the new poetry
professor—the married poetry professor.
Thomas Abrams is a stereotypical artist—rude, arrogant, and
broody—but his glares and taunts don’t scare Layla. She might be bad at poetry,
but she is good at reading between the lines. Beneath his prickly façade,
Thomas is lonely, and Layla wants to know why. Obsessively.
Sometimes you do get what you want. Sometimes you end up in
the storage room of a bar with your professor and you kiss him. Sometimes he
kisses you back like the world is ending and he will never get to kiss you
again. He kisses you until you forget the years of unrequited love; you forget
all the rules, and you dare to reach for something that is not yours.

topics like cheating and death. 18+ Only.

Excerpt
I’m hit by a storm of desire to kiss him better. It’s a tornado, an avalanche in my body, and in one breathless moment, I decide to go for it. It’s okay. I can take the blame for it later.

I break the rules and reach up and kiss him. A feathery peck on his plump lips, it’s a kiss of solidarity, a kiss that intends to tell him I understand—but one isn’t enough. It only manages to ratchet up my lust. So I give him another, this time on the corner of his mouth, and then another one on his jaw.

It’s not enough, these small, barely-there touches. I want more, but I won’t take it. I’ll be good; I’ll only give.

Abruptly, he fists my curls and stops me. I look at him fearfully, ready to apologize—not for the kiss, but for being the kisser. His gaze reflects passion, stark, raving need, and I shiver, despite wearing layers and sweating with his heat.

“Are you trying to kiss me, Layla?” he rasps, flexing his fingers on my makeshift ponytail.

He couldn’t tell? Blush rises to the surface and I know I’m glowing like a neon sign. Swallowing, I nod. “Yes.”

He inches closer to me, still not touching—as impossible as that is—but infinitely closer. “You want to kiss me, Miss Robinson, you do it right.”

Oh God, does he have to call me that? Now, here? My spine arches on its own and my heavy tits graze the contours of his shuddering chest.

“H-How?” I ask innocently, belying the daring action of my body. His stern, professor-y voice is doing things to me, making me wild, uncontrolled.

For a second, he’s silent, just watching. I’m afraid he’ll back out from whatever this is, whatever insanity we’re about to commit—but then I sense the shift in the liquor-laced air as he opens his mouth and growls, “Like this.”
Author Bio
Writer of bad romances. Coffee Addict. White Russian
Drinker. Imaginary Ballet Dancer and poetess. Aspiring Lana Del Ray of the book
world.

I’m a big believer in love (obviously). I believe in happily ever after, the
butterflies and the tingling. But I also believe in edgy, rough and gutsy kind
of love. I believe in pushing the boundaries, darker (sometimes morally
ambiguous) emotions and imperfections.

The kind of love I write about is flawed just like my characters. And I hope by
the end of it, you’ll come to root for them just as much as me. Because love,
no matter where it comes from, is always pure and beautiful.

When Olivia Hardin began having strange movie-like dreams in her teens, she had no choice but to begin putting them to paper. Before long the writing bug had her and she knew she wanted to be a published author. Several rejections plus a little bit of life later, and she was temporarily “cured” of the urge to write. That is until she met a group of talented and fabulous writers who gave her the direction and encouragement she needed to get lost in the words again.

Olivia’s attended three different universities over the years and toyed with majors in Computer Technology, English, History and Geology. Then one day she heard the term road scholar and she knew that was what she wanted to be. Now she “studies” anything and everything just for the joy of learning. She’s also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and she’s sometimes accused of being artistic.

A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband, Danny and their puppy, Bonnie.

He was supposed to be my first and only one-night
stand.
He was definitely not supposed to become my boss.
I had always been the good girl – the workaholic with every
second of her life mapped out to a tee.
Then I got trapped in an elevator with Julian Hoult.
He was… irresistible. Sophisticated sex in a
crisp white shirt. His voice alone dropped me straight to my knees. What was I
supposed to do?
Well….
I can tell you what was I definitely not supposed
to do.
I was not supposed to run into him ever again. I was not
supposed to be desperately unemployed, and I was definitely not supposed to
accept his dirty little job offer.
But I couldn’t resist.
As CEO of the Hoult Media empire, Julian will stop at
nothing to get what he wants. So for his next venture with Manhattan’s most
lecherous billionaires, he’s hired me to play the role of bait. And while my
official title is that of Executive Assistant, my actual job requires low tops,
tight skirts and flaunting everything I’ve got till his clients are easy to
bend – till they can barely think for themselves anymore.
It’s sleazy and wrong. Against everything I’ve worked for.
But with Julian as my audience, I can’t help but enjoy every second. Thanks to
him, I’m embracing the bad, and I swear…
I’ve never in my life felt this damned good.

Katie:
Baseball
players break your heart. They are designed to break your heart. Especially
baseball players like Jacob Baird. Just drafted, just signed, just started in
the minor leagues. And he works like a horse out on the ball field, although
the rumor mill says that’s not the only reason they call him Horse.
I don’t
date ballplayers because 1, they break your heart, 2, my dad’s the club owner
and that would be awkward, and 3,
good luck trying to explain my falcon to a potential boyfriend, ballplayer or
not.
But why is
my falcon so jealous over this guy?
Jacob:
OK, so I
fell for the Falcons welcome-aboard prank: let the new guy hit on the hot
brunette before he finds out she’s the boss’s daughter. Off-limits? Fine, I’ve
got no problem playing the field.
But why is
my stallion set on playing Katie instead of the field?

Came back
with my hot dog and ate it while Baird met the fans. From where I was, it
looked like he was handling the attention well. Smiling, happy to be there,
shaking hands, signing autographs, seemed to be the approachable type. Fit in
real well with the fans. Folks in Welkerville like to see that in their players—and
Baird seemed to be delivering that. That was a good sign, and I knew Dad would
be happy to hear that. He also didn’t seem to be hitting on any of the women,
which was also a good sign.
I let the
fans have their time with him. Most of them needed to get home, and I didn’t;
besides, I was still working on my hot dog.
Once the
crowds cleared and my hot dog was gone, I came up to him, smile on my face, and
I shook his hand and welcomed him to Welkerville.
And stopped
myself from jumping his bones on the spot.
Yeah, that
surprised me too. It was like The Awkward Years all over again—hormones all
a-fire and everything.
Sure, he
had muscles. Sure, he had that glowing smile. Sure, he was big and brawny. But
so were the other guys, with the possible exception of the smile. Why were my
spidey-senses tingling—no, wait, those were my lady parts. Why were they
tingling?
Fortunately
for me, I’ve gotten a lot better at faking normal behavior since The Awkward
Years.
Also
fortunately for me, he answered by lifting a line straight out of Bull
Durham
. At least, I think he did. The problem with that movie is that it
got minor-league life so right that you’re never sure if you’re seeing
an intentional Bull Durham reference or just Life As Usual in The
Minors.
So I just
answered back with another stock cliche while I tried to keep my tongue in my
cheek, or at least in my mouth. While trying to remind myself what an Executive
Assistant to the Owner was supposed to do—oh, yeah, that’s right, introduce
myself.
But before
I could do that, he beamed at me again—oh my God, that smile—and asked, “Are
the stands always this full?”
Good. That was
good. He was talking baseball and the fans. I could talk about that all day
without making a fool of myself.
But then he
followed up with, “Where does everyone go after the game, anyway?”
Part of me
said this was a set-up to a pick-up line. Other parts of me—the tingling
parts—were ecstatic. Fortunately, my Executive Assistant to the Owner side
recognized this was a good time to educate Baird in Welkerville ways.  “Home, mostly. Some of ‘em drive an hour or
two to get here, plus most of our fans have cows to milk or feed, or jobs to go
to in the morning. A few of ‘em hit the bars. A lot of folks hit the Taystee
Creem downtown; they’re open late.”
I patted
myself on the back. Very educational response, very responsible, very much not
an open invitation to check out that place behind the stands that’s been a
make-out spot for generations of young Welker County residents, get that image
out of your head, Katherine Joy Casey.
